Summer Music Festivals 2011

Hello classmates!

Sooner than later, it will be summer again and having fun should be the objective #1. So, if you love music very much, here you got two amazing proposes for this summer. Both of them take place in the UK, but I think that is not a problem for most of you.

As you already know, the Glastonbury festival is one of the most important festivals in the world, and this year it takes places in the South West England at Worthy Farm, as always. The other fabulous festival takes place in Reading and in Leeds, and it's called Reading & Leeds Festival, aka 'Carling Weekend'.

Information about the two festival after the break!

Glastonbury 2011

Last weekend of June. At Worthy Farm, on the South West of England. Great stage and equipment. Glastonbury is the largest greenfield music and performing arts festival in the world. I can't tell you more thing that you don't know, so here is the poster for this Glastonbury 2011, headlined by U2, Coldplay and Beyoncé.

Highly recommended if you want to see and feel one of the best festivals in the world, and party all day long of course. Don't recommended if you don't like the lineup... I think the lineup for this year is boring, bout it's your call, I wouldn't miss it if I could go there.
If you are thinking of going maybe next year, I'm sorry but that is going to be impossible: there won't be Glastonbury 2012, because of the Olympic Games. What is the relation between both of them? Because of the Games, there won't be enough portable toilets for the festival... That's it. Believe it or not, that's why there won't be Glastonbury 2012.
Last February, Michael Eavis said in a interview about the future Glastonbury 2013/14: "I've had all sorts of offers of headliners for 2013 and 2014."
Furthermore, the recently named best British band Muse seems to be the strongest possible headliner for 2013 according to a conversation between Michael Eavis and Muse's Matt Bellamy.

Reading & Leeds Festival 2011

This one is really amazing. The Reading and Leeds festival is really a couple of festivals: Reading and Leeds. They are promoted at the same time and like the same thing, because the lineup for both festivals is usually the same but in different days of the same weekend. The Reading Festival takes place at Little John's Farm on Richfield Avenue in Central Reading, meanwhile the Leeds Festival is held in Bramham Park. Both of them take place on the last weekend of August, during three days.

The best thing about the Reading and Leeds Festival is the amazing headline it always has. For example, in the last three years these festivals have had in their cartels names like Rage Against the Machine, The Killers, Metallica, Radiohead, Guns n' Roses, Arcade Fire or Blink-182. It's hard to dislike those cartels.

This year, the festivals will have, in my opinion, the best cartel in the last few years. Reading and Leeds 2011 is headlined by Muse, The Strokes, My Chemical Romance, 30 Seconds to Mars and so on, with hard-to-find bands like Rise Against. Here is the cartel:

I would not hesitate if you can go to one of this festivals, with that amazing lineup.

Dcode Festival 2011

Here we got the nearest gig this summer, and I really mean it. After three years, the Dcode festival comes back to Ciudad Universitaria the days 24 and 25 of June. Here is the cartel:

It isn't easy to have My Chemical Romance besides with All Time Low and Sum41 in the same cartel. Big opportunity.

  3. Cool festivals.. But have you ever heard about Kazantip? I prefer to go there almost every year. That is the craziest rave music event I’ve ever been!! It lasts for a MONTH on the beach of Crimea Peninsula, Ukraine. Ye, far from enough but it is worth it! People there are real party animals:)) The sea, world favorite dj’s, cheap prices and really hot people! The official site is www.kazantip-republic.com but there you can find only info about event. I book my trip and find a lot of useful info before the trip here www.z-aliens.net.
By the way, what is really funny it is not considered as a festival but as the separate Kazantip Republic with own rules and government. Cool idea!
